Cambodia is also home to a large number of beautiful coastal destinations along the Gulf of Thailand. The country’s 443 km(276 miles) of coastline lie along the western edge of the Gulf of Thailand, sandwiched between Thailand and Vietnam.
Aside from coastline, Cambodia also has 60 offshore islands, many of which are holiday destinations with beaches that can be explored and enjoyed. Some of the country's best resorts can be found on these islands.

#1. Otres Beach
Otres beach is a 4.5km long strip of sand, situated about 20 minutes from Sihanoukville. It has long been the top choice for tourists who want a chilled out beach away from the town’s seedy underbelly. There are 3 sections: Otres 1, Otres 2 and Otres Village. Otres 1, the busiest of the three sections has some of the best beach bars and guesthouses as well as a public beach about 1 km long. Next comes the Otres 2 which is also known as the ‘Long Beach’ and is home to some bars and hotels as well. Otres Village is on the other side of Long Beach, some hundred meters towards the mainland. The village is packed with shops, restaurants, bars and hotels.
You can either relax on the beach or explore the area around Otres on your own, it's possible to rent motorbikes or scooters. Many guesthouses and hotels offer them at reasonable rates.
#2. Serendipity Beach
Located on the eastern side of Sihanoukville, Serendipity Beach is dotted with quaint restaurants, beach bars and BBQ shacks. The beach is clean and the foliage at the sea shore is pleasant enough.
A lively and cheerful beach, the Serendipity Beach Sihanoukville is one place to enjoy a lively and joyous night where you can hang out with friends and drink and eat till the wee hours of the morning.
#3. Sokha Beach
Sokha Beach is around 1.5 km long and located west of Serendipity Beach. The beach is privately owned by - and its southern half occupied by the Sokha Beach Hotel, the first five-star luxury beach hotel in Cambodia. Since it was owned by the hotel, the hotel takes good care of it. The beach is near-always clean and the water sparkling. There is a very shallow drop off here, so you can wander a long way out into the water before it gets particularly deep, making it great for those with young children.
#4. Koh Pos Beach
Koh Pos beach is a small beach located about 1 kilometer from Lomhe Kay beach, off the coast of Sihanoukville. The beach is almost flat and very quiet that provides so much relax to the visitors. The beach attracts only a few visitors, because it is almost undeveloped but offers a fantastic experience to the travellers. The beach belongs to the very popular Treasure Island Seafood Restaurant. The Treasure Island Seafood Restaurant also rents beach chairs and umbrellas for approx. US$ 1 per hour and US$ 5 for three hours.
#5. Victory Beach
The Victory Beach is situated at the furthest north of the peninsula of Sihanoukville. It was the original backpacker beach and still popular with budget travelers. At the northern end of the beach, there is a deep-sea port which is also a great attraction for tourists. The beach also offers the overwhelming experience to be visitors ranging from, white sand and blue sea to a panoramic view of the sunset. At this beach, you can hire a boat to nearby islands.
The Victory Beach is located in front of Koh Pos (Snake Island). It offers a number of services, including comfortable restrooms, fresh water and good transportation service to Koh Pos.
#6. Lazy Beach
Lazy Beach is the most beautiful of the city that features silky-smooth sand, the splendorous deep blue water which glistens in the sunshine and the enveloping mountains that offers superb views to the visitors. Literally, as the name suggests, you will find yourself turning into a bit of a beach bum so why not enjoy it! The waters here are also popular for snorkeling, so if you can bare moving, cool off and explore! It’s no wonder just about every Koh Rong Samloem guide mentions this sweet, sunny spot.
#7. Ochheuteal Beach
Ochheuteal Beach, known as UNTAC Beach in the mid-1990s and it is currently the most prominent in Sihanoukville, offering the full range of sea shore scenes from upscale lodgings and feasting to laid-back spending sea shore bars and cabins.
It is 3.5 km long. The beach runs east until reaching a river mouth and headland which separates it from Otres beach which starts after the headland. The eastern end of Ochheuteal Beach, known locally as Serendipity Beach, is the busiest part Ochheuteal Beach. The headland to the west of the ferry pier and the approach road to the beach (Serendipity Beach Road) has lots of inexpensive guesthouses, bungalows and places to eat at a reasonable price.

Independence beach is the westernmost of the main city beaches of Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Developers built up the east end of the coast, and destroyed most of the trees. However, the west end is still pretty nice. Everywhere, there are many trees (but no palms), white sand, and it's very clean near Independence Hotel Resort & Spa.

#9. Long Set Beach
Located to the North of Koh Tuich, a place full of guesthouses and hotels in Koh Rong, the Long Set Beach koh Rong is the place from where beautiful sunsets can be seen. Those keen on some adventure can take a jungle trek from Sihanoukville for about 45 minutes to reach this location. There is also the option of taking private boats from Koh Tuich.
Making its place among the top beaches in Cambodia already, Long Set beach is a 7 km long beach, empty with one end at the Broken Heart Guesthouse and the other at the Sok San. Long Set Beach can be called one of the best beaches in Cambodia owing to its crystal clear water and startling view of the phosphorescence. As mentioned earlier, this is situated at the sunset end of the island thus allowing magnificent views of it too. The seven bays of the Koh Rong Island, make diving Cambodia and Koh Rong diving a good option.

#10. Ream Beach
Ream Beach is a part of Ream National Park, located about 19 km from Sihanoukville City. This large nature preserve includes a long stretch of raw beach. It is one of the few beaches that are landscaped by mountains and water falls, thus making the entire scene a treat for the eye. Another major attraction of this beach is the swampy region of mangroves that grow right at the back of it. You can also see some lovely tropical birds while looking around the marsh area of the Ream Beach in Sihanoukville.
Although it's a national park, the area is home to a local community of around 5,000 families who work farms or fish (or in tourism businesses). You can see local people’s life like fishermen at work. This beach is only about 9km to Sihanoukville Airport, so you can get here from airport.
#11. Kep Beach
Kep is a seaside city tucked away 173 kilometers to the south west of Phnom Penh. Kep were dotted with holiday villas for the Cambodia elite in 1950s.The demise of the beach town was in 1970s when Khmer Rouge gained popularity and took control over Cambodia. Most of Kep villa’s villas were stripped and damaged.
The Kep beach is about a kilometer long and 50 meters wide. Combined with sea breezes, excellent seafood and an ever so lazy atmosphere is what makes Kep a worthwhile destination.
Just 5 km off the coast of Kep is Koh Tonsay (Rabbit Island). The small and quiet Island is good for a day trip or even a couple days.
